Breast Lift Surgery Overview
A breast lift procedure restores a natural round breast shape by repositioning the nipple higher on the breast, eliminating overstretched skin, and removing breast tissue falling below the breast crease. In a traditional breast lift, the excess skin is removed from the lower part of the breast in order to conceal the scars as much as possible. A breast lift can add roundness to the top of your breasts, improve their shape, and eliminate sagging, helping bras fit more comfortably and clothing fit more attractively.
Will I need breast implants too?
This is really up to you. Are you happy with your current breast size and shape? If you are happy with your appearance when you are wearing a non-padded bra, a breast lift can improve the breast shape and make wearing that bra more comfortable.
If your breasts appear deflated or have lost significant breast volume after pregnancy or weight loss, then breast augmentation alone or a breast lift with augmentation may help you achieve the best results. Additionally, a breast lift with implants can be the best solution to correct noticeable asymmetry if you would like both breasts to be closer in size to your larger breasts.
Breast Lift vs. Breast Reduction
If you want smaller, lifted breasts, we can help you too. This type of mastopexy is essentially a breast reduction, except that the emphasis is more on skin tightening rather than on size reduction. This combination provides for a more proportionate appearance.
Good candidates for breast lift surgery
If you’re unhappy with the way your breasts look due to sagging or lost volume, you’re on the right track by considering a breast lift. This procedure may be a great option if any of the following describe you:
- Your breasts have a flat shape
- Your nipples fall below the crease when you are not wearing a bra
- Your breasts are different sizes causing one to sag more than the other
- You are at a maintained, stable body weight
- You are a non-smoker or plan to quit smoking well in advance of the scheduled procedure
