Why Choose AquaShape®?
1. You’ll see instant results, with only 1-3 days of downtime.
Non-surgical fat reduction methods are gaining popularity, and a big reason for that is that you don’t have to deal with any downtime. But there’s a trade-off: you have to wait up to 3 months for all the treated fat cells to leave your body. Traditional liposuction, on the other hand, yields instant results, but typically requires a week or more of downtime. So if you’re trying to decide between Liposuction vs. CoolSculpting, water assisted liposuction can give you the best of both worlds. Just like other types of liposuction, the fat is gone immediately after your procedure. Yet because the technique is so gentle, WAL causes much less disturbance to surrounding tissues—this results in minimal swelling, bruising and post-operative discomfort. Typically, our patients feel good enough to go back to work in 1 or 2 days, depending on the location and amount of fat removed.
2. Most patients only require local anesthesia.
Again, this is due to the gentle, minimally invasive technique. Water assisted liposuction uses a pulsating jet of water to dislodge the fat cells, as opposed to force. This results in a procedure that is well-tolerated by the body and helps to minimize trauma and risk of complications after surgery. In fact, many of Dr. Ditesheim’s patients are able to drive themselves home following their WAL procedures, and relax for the rest of the day without any side effects common with general anesthesia.
3. You’ll enjoy a better shape, not just less fat
The cannulae, or tubes used to removed the fat during water assisted liposuction, are designed to allow a skilled surgeon to sculpt just the right contour to any area at the same time that excess fat is removed. This is one of the key advantages of WAL over non-surgical fat reduction, which can only lessen the size of a fatty bulge.
4. It can be used anywhere on the body.
Because it is so gentle, water assisted liposuction can be used safely and effectively on the face, neck, arms, legs or chest, as well as the belly, hips and thighs. Even if you just want to smooth a very small area (such as the fat between the underarm and the breast), WAL can achieve beautiful results with virtually undetectable scars. Non-surgical fat reduction methods usually cannot be used on the face, nor are they typically ideal for treating very small fat deposits.
5. The fat removed with WAL is optimal for fat grafting.
So if your goal is to get rid of excess fat, why is this important? Fat can be an excellent, permanent filler to restore volume to facial features, enhance breast fullness without implants, or smooth indented scars. Some liposuction methods damage the fat cells so they need to be “purified” before injection. This step reduces the number of fat cells that “take” following transfer. With WAL, the fat cells are immediately ready for re-injection, increasing the survival rate and achieving more predictable results.
A few things to keep in mind…
Even an advanced technique like water assisted liposuction is only as good as the surgeon performing the procedure. Always choose a board certified plastic surgeon who has specific training and knowledge in liposuction techniques. In addition, check to make sure your procedure will be performed in an accredited surgical facility. Our surgical suite at Ditesheim Cosmetic Surgery is accredited by the AAAASF, ensuring that everyone attending to you is specifically qualified for their role and that our facility is equipped to the same standard as a hospital operating room.
