The recovery process for your breast augmentation may take a little time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a few small steps to help make your environment a little more recovery-friendly. Keep these five items in mind before you go in for your procedure:
1. Moisturizing Lotion
Giving your body the support it needs is essential to proper healing. After your augmentation, you may notice that the skin around your breasts is tight or dry. This can be minimized with moisturizing lotion to keep your skin soft and smooth.
2. Child & Pet Care
The last thing you’re going to want to do when recovering from your surgery is wrangle your toddlers for a nap or take Fido on a walk every night. To ensure that you get the good night’s sleep you deserve, make sure your children and pets can be taken care of by someone else for a while.
3. Supportive Bras
Each phase of the healing process may require a different support garment for your healing breasts. Directly after your procedure, you’ll need to wear a compression bra. As your healing progresses, you’ll move to a supportive bra that doesn’t have an underwire and eventually transition back to regular bras.
4. Ice Packs
This might seem like a no-brainer, but make sure you have a few soothing ice packs at the ready. Pain, swelling and discomfort are all common parts of the healing process, but regularly applied icing therapy can help reduce the symptoms.
5. Prepackaged Meals
Cooking food three times a day might rank up there with chasing your rugrats around your house—who needs it? You likely won’t feel well enough to whip up any gourmet meals while your breasts are still healing. Have prepackaged meals at the ready that are quick and simple to prepare.
